ACS Dobfar S.p.A., a leading chemical-pharmaceutical group specialising in the development and production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and pharmaceutical formulations, with 22 manufacturing sites worldwide (13 of which are in Italy), has completed the acquisition of Istituto Biochimico Italiano G. Lorenzini (IBI) and its subsidiaries, a historic Italian excellence that has been active in the pharmaceutical sector for 108 years.
The transaction represents an important strategic step in ACS Dobfar’s growth path, consolidating the Group’s vertical integration strategy and strengthening its ability to ensure continuity and reliability in pharmaceutical supply. The acquisition will also allow ACS Dobfar to increase its presence in the countries where IBI already operates directly, and to strengthen the global production and distribution of sterile hospital products and injectable penicillin antibiotic vials.
