LCA’s financial services practice continues its growth into non-traditional areas such fintech and financial regulation with the arrival of new partner Umberto Piattelli.
Umberto Piattelli will join the firm as a partner in the Banking & Finance department. With this important strategic reinforcement in a key sector, noted for combining finance with digital technology, which has seen vigorous development over the last few years and shows no signs of stopping, LCA intends to enrich its offering of innovative consulting services. Within LCA Umberto Piattelli, who arrives together with associate Sofia Caruso, will strengthen the team led by partner Davide Valli.
Umberto has a consolidated experience of over twenty years in British and American headquartered international firms, where he has advised companies, multinationals and financial operators on a wide range of transactions. He has also gained specific expertise in financial services regulation and fintech, assisting payment institutions, e-money institutions, crowdfunding platforms, digital currency service providers, SGRs, SIMs, investment funds and banks operating in the new technology finance sector, serving for many years as head of the financial services department.
In 2014 he was appointed by the European Commission to the European Crowdfunding Stakeholders Forum. Since 2017, he has been a member of the scientific technical committee of the Association of Payment Services Providers and in 2019 the European Crowdfunding Network invited Umberto to join its Italian Strategic Group. Umberto Piattelli is the author of numerous publications related to the regulation of digital finance, speaks regularly at national and international matrix conferences, and since 2019 regularly lectures at the Financial Police School on the regulation of new financial players.
