LCA Studio Legale advised FoodSeed on the seed investment round in Nous S.r.l., an Italian startup active in the development of innovative functional ingredients for the food, beverage and nutraceutical sectors. The round is aimed at accelerating the development and commercialisation of Koncentra, a proprietary botanical ingredient for the energy and wellness segment.
The deal involved Foodtech Accelerator S.r.l., an investment vehicle set up by CDP Venture Capital SGR S.p.A. and Eatable Adventures, together with Accelera Ventures as part of FoodSeed, the AgrifoodTech acceleration programme of CDP Venture Capital’s National Network, run with the support of Eatable Adventures and Accelera Ventures, alongside dsm-firmenich Ventures. The funds raised will support Nous’s industrial and commercial growth path, expanding its international supply chain and marking the company’s entry into the US market with its functional botanical ingredient.
The Emerging Companies & Venture Capital team at LCA Studio Legale led the deal on behalf of FoodSeed, coordinated by Andrea Messuti and consisting of Maria Flora Cafiero and Gianmarco Pacini.
Osborne Clarke Milan advised dsm-firmenich Ventures on all aspects of the transaction, with a team led by Partner Giuliano Lanzavecchia, supported by Associate Martina Serbelloni.
Squire Patton Boggs Milan, with Associate Carlo Lemmi, advised the target company Nous S.r.l. and its founder and CEO Lorenzo Pessini on the legal aspects of the deal.
