    Matteo specializes in commercial law and insolvency law.
    He advises insolvent companies, investors and creditors in relation to debt restructuring and turnaround matters, using the tools provided for by the Italian insolvency legal framework, including certified recovery plans (“piani attestati”), debt restructuring agreements (“accordi di ristrutturazione”), in-court settlements with creditors and negotiated crisis composition procedures, proposing innovative solutions either for the debtors or for the creditors involved, also in connection with the financing of the debtor in possession.
    His practice focuses also on cross-border insolvency procedures. He has also gained experience in relation to extraordinary administration procedures for large companies and compulsory liquidation procedures related to banks.
    He has significant experience in the field of civil, corporate and insolvency litigation.
    He advises clients in the field of M&A, advising sellers and buyers (including private equity funds) in the acquisition of businesses, especially in the context of distressed M&A transactions.
    He advises lenders and borrowers in a wide variety of domestic and international financing transactions.

    Professional experience

    Matteo started his professional career in 2003 in Mazzoni e Associati as an associate of the firm until 2018. Afterwards, he was a partner of the Carnelutti Law Firm where he coordinated the Restructuring and Insolvency Department.
    Matteo joined LCA Studio Legale in 2022.
    Starting from 2017, Matteo has been an Officer of the Insolvency Section of the International Bar Association.

    Associations, seminars, media and other activities

    Matteo was adjunct Professor of Insolvency Law from 2011 to 2020 and of Commercial Law from 2012 to 2016 at the Catholic University of Milan.
    He was member of the board of directors of Italian asset management companies and of the oversight body pursuant to L.D. 231/2001 of several Italian companies.
    He published many commentaries to court decisions, chapters and articles in books and law review edited by Oxford University Press, Giuffré, Giappichelli.
    He has been a speaker at many conferences organized by prestigious institutions, such as the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the International Bar Association and the Escola da Magistratura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
