The project LAW IS ART was born from the passion of some LCA’s professionals for the art world, in particular the contemporary art, from the deep knowledge of the peculiarities of the art market and from the recognized legal expertise in the art law sector. It was also born from a strong commitment to sustain innovation in the art field, endorse human creativity and promote art outside traditional circuits, and from the recognition of art as cultural investment and personal and social enrichment source.
“Law is ART!” brings together a multidisciplinary team of professionals able to offer a qualified and cross-practice consultancy service. It includes: Maria Grazia Longoni Palmigiano, project leader, specialized in the various aspects of art law, collector of contemporary art and founding member of the ACACIA Association; Miriam Loro Piana, member of the IP Department, expert in copyright and advertising matters; Nicolò Pelanda, criminal lawyer; and finally, Dario Covucci, specialized in litigation, cultural patronage and vehicles for the transfer and enhancement of artistic heritage.
In 2014 the Law Firm sponsored the MIART 2014 Emergent Prize and hosted the personal exhibition of the artist Tatiana Trouvé, set up in occasion of the assignment of the ACACIA 2014 Prize. Moreover, it has converted one of its meeting rooms in a real artist’s Project Room, hosting the outcomes of the research of some important contemporary artists active on the Milanese, national and international scene, and inaugurating in October an exhibition of art works of Letizia Cariello.
In 2015 the Law Firm, thanks also to the precious contribution and cooperation of important institutional and company partners, started a series of seminars on the multiple aspects of art life, world and market addressed to a cross audience of professionals, connected sectors’ operators, art enthusiasts or simple curious people. Moreover, LCA supported for the second consecutive year the Emergent Prize of MIART, inaugurating at the same time an exhibition of art works of Chiara Camoni and afterwards an exhibition of Botto e Bruno.
In 2016, in cooperation with AXA XL Art&Lifestyle, Galleria Minini and Apice, LCA supported the tour of the project “Carillon – Opera per archi” by Letizia Cariello across some prestigious Italian artistic locations. In November 2016 it inaugurated at its premises in Milan an exhibition of Franco Guerzoni.
In 2017, the collaboration between LCA, AXA XL Art&Lifestyle, Antonini Milano and Apice brought them to promote, at the prestigious Palazzo Borromeo, in the occasion of MIART, the art exhibition “Transition_Giorgio Morandi”, born from the artistic research of Brigitte March Niedermair. In December 2017, the Firm inaugurated at its premises an art exhibition by Silvia Camporesi, in collaboration with Galleria Z2O.
Also in 2018, on the occasion of MIART – that LCA supported with the sponsorship of the LCA for Emergent Prize -, the Firm promoted, again in collaboration with AXA XL Art&Lifestyle, Antonini Milano and Apice, the exhibition “play in the garden_2018” by Michele Guido, at Palazzo Borromeo. In November 2018, it inaugurated at its premises an art exhibition by Silvio Wolf, in collaboration with AXA XL Art&Lifestyle and Apice.
In 2019 LCA proceeded with a new collaboration to promote its commitment towards art also in Turin: the Law Firm supported the exhibition “Sandy Skoglund. Visioni ibride” at CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia. LCA keeps on the partnership with MIART by supporting the LCA for Emergent Prize. Moreover, on the occasion of the MIART week, it has inaugurated “Time is a child playing”, the art exhibition by Mattia Bosco staged at Palazzo Borromeo, in collaboration with AXA XL Art&Lifestyle, Antonini Milano, Apice and Galleria Fumagalli. In november LCA had the pleasure to inaugurate in its premises the exhibition “Screens, Props and Electric Lights” by Rä di Martino.
In 2020, LCA launched the “Postcards from the Inside” project, a visual and evocative diary of the moment of reflection that we all experienced during the Covid-19 worldwide emergency. A narrative by many voices that involved 26 Italian artists: each of them sent us a picture of a personal artwork, combining it with a word and often a short thought.
Finally, since 2013 LCA has commissioned the realization of its Christmas card (or video) to the students of NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti or to the students of Accademia di Brera, with the aim of supporting the future of contemporary art, in occasion of Christmas.
Art thus becomes a privileged meeting, discussion and enhancement vehicle of a passion in a professional context.
